So what is a Galvanic Facial?

Galvanic – Disencrustation – Deep Cleanse
Great for oily or combination skin types, this treatment provides a deep cleanse by a mild galvanic current and offers deep sebum (oil) decongestion, softening and removal, oil reduction, and deep pore and acne cleanse.

Galvanic – Iontophoresis – Infusion Of Serums & Masks
Great for all skin types, particularly mature/dry skin.
Iontophoresis is a technique for introducing serums deeper into the skin by mild electric current. These treatments are ideal for dry skin, offering a youthful and natural rejuvenation with a deeper product penetration. It is also used immediately following desincrustation to replace lost moisture and infuse products back in, rebalancing the skin.

What is a High Frequency Facial?

Direct & Indirect.

Direct High Frequency facials consist of a high frequency machine with a glass electrode attachment filled with either argon gas (blue/ violet colour) or neon gas (orange/red color). By placing the glass electrode on the skin, a germicidal and drying effect is created that kills bacteria and eliminates excess sebum (for oily skin) and a warming effect is created that increases activity in the glands and nourishes the skin (for dry skin).

High frequency treatments are used to stimulate, sanitize and heal the skin by high frequency currents that generate warmth in the skin and stimulate nerve endings, in turn increasing blood circulation, nourishing the skin and improving product penetration within the skin. Direct high frequency offers the results of treating dry and dehydrated skin by increasing the activity in the sebaceous glands and causing a skin warming effect and provides benefits for those with blemish prone and acneic type skin by killing bacteria and eliminating oils.

  • Improves the condition of oily areas, Drying excess oil/seborrhea.
  • Anti-bacterial and germicidal: Helps destroy any bacteria present through the creation of ozone which has an anti-bacterial, germicidal effect on the surface of the skin.
  • Increases cellular activity/metabolism.
  • Improves the moisture balance of the skin.
  • Improves the appearance of the skin as well as a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Healing, increased blood flow (white blood cells) and warmth.

Indirect High Frequency – (also known as Viennese massage)
is the use of current for relaxation and sedation. Ideal for a skin that needs stimulation, such as a dry, lackluster, delicate, fragile, sensitive and flaccid skin. Light techniques are used versus European-style massage, which could stretch the skin or over-stimulate sensitive skin. Indirect High Frequency stimulates blood, lymph and sebaceous activity without pulling or stretching the skin. It has an overall regenerating action but also promotes relaxation and sedation. This makes it ideal for skin conditions that may be contraindicated to European-style massage.
The client holds the glass saturator electrode, and the therapist massages the face with hands. The client may experience a mild tingling sensation. The therapist may also feel this in her fingertips. The lighter the therapist’s pressure, the more stimulation occurs. Prior to the massage, an essential oil blend, treatment serum and/or active complex may be applied to the skin, followed by the massage medium of choice.

  • Aids in the penetration of treatment creams/serums/complexes by increasing the blood flow in certain areas.
  • Regenerates the skin.
  • Re-energizes tired and stressed skin.
  • Assists in massage for an ageing skin.
